The 2014 edition was presented at Cinefest Film Theater in downtown Atlanta March 14th and March 29th. The following films participated:




POSITIVE

Ukraine 2013 -- 28 minutes
Director: Polina Kelm

Synopsis: Lena, Taya and Tamara used to edit other people’s movies all their life by working with positive film tape only and are afraid of computers. They breed cats, watch Oscar Award ceremonies every year and secretly dream about work on movies like "Avatar." All their life they remain on a backstage of the cinema world, on the other side of the screen. And now it’s their time to come to the stage...

THE LANGUAGE OF THE UNKNOWN - A FILM ABOUT THE WAYNE SHORTER QUARTET

Germany 2013 -- 56 minutes

Synopsis: "The language of the unknown“ faces the great saxophonist and his band with a concert footage, which originated on November 3, 2012, in the Salle Pleyel in Paris and observes the effect of the music on their creators, who are normally much too busy with creating the new rather than to deal with music already played. Thereby, surprising insights into the essence of their music open up, as well as the realization that true Creator-Spirit goes far beyond pure virtuosity.

THE SWIMMING TRUNKS

France 2013 -- 20 minutes

Synopsis: On holiday on a campsite by the seaside, Rémi, 10, is fascinated by Stéphane, 35, the father of one of his playmates. This is a new, confusing feeling for him. Nobody knows what he is going through – especially not handsome Stéphane…

LIVING WITH THE DEAD

Philippines 2013 -- 49 minutes

Synopsis: In Manila's North Cemetery, a collection of 2,000 people live in mausoleums and improvised housing. The story of their settlement in the cemetery goes back generations to the destruction of Manila in World War II.

ANTENNAS TO BEYOND

USA 2013 -- 5 minutes

Synopsis: When an eccentric young man wakes up under an electrical tower, he begins having hallucination like flashbacks, receiving messages from outer space through electricity...

KING BLING

USA 2013 -- 13 minutes
Director: Lauren Kinsler

Synopsis: In a Tex-Mex oil town, Rey, a Spiritual Crossing Guard and electronic music enthusiast, gets help from a gothed out girl in dealing with the death of his mother.

MONA

France 2013 -- 13 minutes

Synopsis: Gary, a robotics engineer, has developed a domestic android named Mona. He brings the humanoid robot home to carry out some tests. How will Gary 's wife Marie react?

IN PRAISE OF SHADOWS

USA 2013 -- 2 minutes

Synopsis: Inspired by the aesthetic point of view what the Japanese author Junichiro Tanizaki argued. He finds beauty not in the thing itself but in the patterns of shadows, the light and the darkness, the one thing against another creates.

ONLY SOLOMON LEE

Spain 2013 -- 15 minutes

Synopsis: Outskirts of the city... In the depths of a factory an alienated loner nurtures himself with the lives that he finds in stolen laptops. In his own obsession Solomon is looking for a miracle: connect with someone, run away from himself, and love.
